I'm not sure where to even begin so I guess I will start by hitting some highlights. Maybe then I will get my bloggy grove back. As you can see by the snow picture, we have had a winter wonderland in our neck of the woods. To be more specific, our region received a mountains worth of snow ( 4+ feet!). Noah absolutely loved the snow. Icicles could have formed on his eye lids and that wouldn't have stopped him from frolicking in the snow. His tiny snow boots were pretty much worthless after the first 6" but that didn't stop him from dragging them out of the closet every 20 minutes to inform us ( saying "b" oots) it was time yet again to play outside.

We couldn't be more proud of all of Noah's accomplishments over the last year. He turned 3 in October and since then his vocabulary has started to emerge. He can say clearly about 8 -10 words and says another 10-15 words along with signs. My new favorites are Blue ( "b" oo) and bless you ( "b" ess ). Just the other day he said "daddy no" and I cried with joy to hear him say two words.

Starting in October, Noah started attending a preK classroom 4 (1/2 days)/week and a typical preschool in the afternoons. We absolutely adore his teacher and have met some wonderful families during this transition. For those curious about is very first IEP, Noah gets the following therapies:

Speech - 90 minutes/week 2 -individual / 1 -group
OT - 60 minutes/week - 1 -individual/1- group
PT - 30 minutes once a week (group)

He has become Mr. Independent. Which I have a love/hate relationship with. I so want him to try everything himself but there is only some much time in the day. I think we have worked out a good balance where I allow him to start by himself and I offer to help when appropriate. The above picture is of him helping me clean out the bathroom vanity. He insisted on climbing all the way in to clean. These are truly the moments that make me love his independence.

He is also Mr. Orderly, and always makes sure all draws & doors are closed. He also doesn't like anything left on the stairs and will let us know if something needs to be removed. Each morning he needs the window blind opened and his blanket folded and put at the end of the bed before even thinking about venturing out of his bedroom. Which leads me to his bed. It's finally time to transition him to a big boy bed, although he stays put in his crib it pains me to hear him knock into the crib rails throughout the night. So the bed has been ordered and due to arrive this week. Wish us luck on this transition!

I just love this picture of Noah rolling out playdoh. He truly was a super star. He learned quickly and enjoyed all the comradery of his team mates. It was fun to watch 8-10 , 3-4yrs olds scattering themselves all over the soccer field. I am so grateful to have a generous brother who happens to own a beach house and made it available to us for a week. Noah got to spend time with his Nan, Aunt Melissa, Niece Sophia & Uncle Chris. The weather was perfect and both kids loved the beach. Noah preferred to keep his feet "sand free", an impossible task when we couldn't keep him out of the water. He kept asking to have his feet wiped clean everytime they hit the sand. I can't blame him, I'm not a huge sand fan either

He insisted on having his own ice cream, despite Daddy's efforts to share his.

Our future life guard !

Ok, so we are still working on potty training. Supervision is still required unless you have endless quantities of toilet paper hanging around. Noah continues to make positive strides in the potty training department. It was difficult to walk by the numerous arcades on the boardwalk without making a "pit stop" and allowing him to drive his favorite "Drift" car. Noah is doing a wonderful job with potty training. So well, we decide it was time to buy some big boy underwear to test drive. As you can see, Noah seems pretty comfortable in his Thomas the Train underpants...so comfortable he pooped in them 5 minutes after putting them on! Our potty training journey has begun and all I can say is that I am so proud of our big boy for working so hard.

We enjoyed a nice sunny weekend and I thought I would share a video of Noah playing outside.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. He continues to make us proud of him every(OK most) moment of each day. To our complete amazement, he has been using the potty (1& 2) on a daily basis. I actually think he is more excited to flush the toilet and say bye bye to his "creation"than actually going.

We recently needed to change daycare in order to be in the same school district he will be receiving services when he turns three in October. I was, of course , a nervous wreck thinking about the transition to a new environment, teachers and classmates. We absolutely loved his old school and it was an extremely difficult decision. Well, I need to admit all my worrying was for nothing. Noah loves his new school, teachers and most important his new friends. He is even going potty at school. We still do miss our old teachers & friends :(

We are still working on his feeding issues and continue to make progress with little regression. Our goal over the next 6 months is to have him eat 100% of his food in "soft chewable" form. He went from only eating only 2 foods 6 months ago to eating : yogurt, apple sauce, ice cream, sweet potatoes, hot dogs, bananas, soft carrots, and a few pureed foods (baked beans, noodles & sauce & which are his safe foods. He is now able to spoon feed himself and is starting to learn how to use a fork. He does have behavioral issues while eating, like throwing his food, utensils and drink cup. He seems worse at home than at school so we think it may be a control thing with me :(. If anyone has any advice on how to eliminate this behavior I am all ears!

We are looking foward to Summer this year, already have two trips planned to the beach!

Hope everyone is doing well. I'll try to post more frequently.

Peace - Terry

mom2noahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17283497476779936870noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2104631653643837254.post-64239919355394504342009-04-03T20:47:00.011-04:002009-04-04T13:20:40.695-04:00Lil Stinker!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhlPQJJvMwpjYxm2mAksvZ7DiS0Uyqz9Yb1lHSnKnnoMbWtGRBJO6DtNn1OHAyCnNmH3cR1GyQ0hlmEBsd5C6RYgF6LJeR1XBC9_7E0xyRtc2rz8TeXpbpOBL-8EPYBOiRrsBOvuBRjA/s400/lil+stinker.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5320638260726409378" />
Who needs a potty?

It's been way too long since my last entry and I apologize. Life has just taken me down a different path these last months.

Noah has been doing great. I few setbacks but nothing we couldn't handle. I just can't believe how quickly he is growing up. He will be 2.5 in two weeks and he fits the "terrible two" definition perfectly. I do remember how quiet our "sweet pea" was in his first 12 months of life. I would hold him in my arms wondering if I would ever know what his voice would sound like...... well fast forward and now I can't even catch him most times and don't even think about holding him for fear of him bursting my ear drum! Yes, my sweet pea is now at times my "lil monster" who loves to scream at the top of his voice for attention. Granted his list of words extend to 6.... daddy, hat, ball, up & down and when he is desperate for me not to leave him I will hear an occassional Mama. I love Noah to death and most days forget he is suppose to have a disability as he mirrors most typical children on a daily basis.

We are still working on his feeding issues and hope to move him to chewables in the near future. He has shown progress and now eats about 5 different foods that are pureed. ( sweet potatoes, yogurt, applesauce, pancake & banana). He started to self feed with a spoon about two months ago and is doing great. He is still on thickened only and drinks soy based milk and pedisure from a straw cup. His little tummy just can't digest any type of juice, at least not yet. When he is not sick,he is able to put on weight. Unfortunately he loses most of the "new" weight when he is sick so it's a vicious cycle. He certainly didn't get his weight issue from his Mommy.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgEBMuyC3TANq4RYKr58H6Y-P9uEOnzh6VVumhytn30vvM4XUwZhPZP2IpilOW0iU_J7aJL80qBNar6ADU55uZa5hEJbpV2t8zEiqw-usD048aVe0BGbuAKjfQLWIjDwDg6fmYE0uwOw/s400/Tricycle.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5320638088605374658" />
Thanks Nan, I love my new wheels! So our thoughts and prayers are on going even if you haven't heard from us in a while.

Hugs & Kisses - Terrymom2noahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17283497476779936870noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2104631653643837254.post-6639635726006735822008-10-23T20:19:00.018-04:002008-10-23T21:53:34.601-04:00Look who is........TWO!!!!
My Sweet Pumpkin turned two last Friday! Daddy surprised him with a new sandbox and lots of toys to play with. We had a small party on Saturday with a big dinosaur birthday cake. Noah opened lots of "big" boy toys this year ...dinosaurs, trucks, cars & beads ( for therapy....a little deceptive I know.

OK, he didn't eat any cake but he sure did think it was really cool & so did I. He is signing like crazy, last count was at 25 signs. His favorite is "help"
2. He is vocalizing more, lots of varying sounds and is starting to say "mmmama". He says ball, hat, hi, dada, daw "dog", uh oh, ut "up", mmmm "moo"& bah " baa".
3. He is drinking from a straw cup
4. He is showing interest in self feeding
5. He is learning to chew
6. He loves strawberry quik powder!
7. He loves to be outside especially with his Daddy
8. His loves to camp and hike. We can't get him inside ( just like his Daddy)
9. Our kids loves motorcycles. He is always asking Daddy to sit on his bike and walks around signing motorcyle and saying vrrrrooom! He doesn't watch a lot of T.V. unless of course Daddy happens to turn to a Monster Truck or Motorbike show then he is glued.
9. He is WALKING!!!! ( I attached a video at the end of the entry)

I am thrilled to annouce Noah started to walk a few weeks before his birthday. We were not even expecting it to happen so suddenly....once again Noah reminds us that is schedule is unpredictable! Now if we can only find his "off" button. Walking has allowed him to discover a whole new world. A world filled with adventurous explorations through our cabinets, drawers, closets, bathrooms, behind furniture, over furniture & where ever his pitter patter feet will lead him. He is so adorable when he follows us around like a little puppy. I can't say enough on how proud we are of our "big" boy.

Gee whiz Daddy makes this look so easy!

Vrrrooom Vrrrooom!

Hey, who wants to go for a hike....I do I do!

Look I'm actually keeping my hat one...hmmm must be pretty darn cold!

Can I play in this box?

I apologize for the sparse updates. We loaded the camper and headed West for the weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect, blue skies and plenty of sunshine. Temperature was a bit nippy but nothing to prevent us from enjoying the great outdoors.

Noah really enjoyed the whole camping experience this year. Especially since he got to sleep next to Daddy for two nights. Mom graciously gave up snuggle time with Noah to spend two nights fighting for covers with Cody ( our spoiled to the bone dog)who absolutely refused to sleep on the floor.

The highlight of our weekend was spending time around the campfire and managing to cook dinner over the open fire. Noah also helped Daddy warm up on the practice green before his early round of golf. I think he is going to be a natural.

OK, so what am I suppose to do with this?
Line myself up, I can barely stand!

Hi Mom, yes I know how to stand up all by myself. He can now push up to a stand all by himself. He has become more brave with taking independent steps. He loves to climb or pull himself up, over and across anything he can. Stairs and chairs seem to be his favorite sport this month. Attempting to climb in and out of the the tub is a close third.

He has cut two top molars for a total of 5 teeth with a few promising bumps in the works. Poor little guy spends more time with his hand in his mouth which leaves little time to practice his eating...UGH. Thank goodness for pedisure.

I would also like to congratulate my friend Julia on her engagement to Jason. I wish them both the best of luck.

Cheers, Terrymom2noahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17283497476779936870noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2104631653643837254.post-67057061687567421542008-09-04T20:32:00.011-04:002008-09-04T22:28:02.371-04:00Beach Bums again!We were spoiled again by having the opportunity to spend a nice long weekend at my brother's beach place with my Mom. Chris, if you are reading this, we want to thank you for making our staying so much fun and relaxing. Noah really misses Tex, but don't tell Cody.

Here is our little guy showing off by taking a few steps.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo1TOp8JiFTjQy7HYJicdi7qsw0wXOOmB7Z0Yc9xiyzVtjjsfdTYN1Lp9z_-4B6_uuP6FGmRU2fwR-5LJ8Rfiuv10pJsU1gq06FpEVb0B1ryZzmSE4fLHNwNUAlRob1Kjs4lNpbT0BOw/s400/Chris+Beach+house+Aug+%2708_0001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242348606777138098" />
We had him so exhausted with trying to take steps, he decided a nice cold one and a rest in his buggy was the safest place to be. While cooling his jets, we walked up to the boardwalk and Nan won him a polar bear by whacking a frog into a lily pad....after like 20 missed frog attempts!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpHomx_gC2pp_9_9d-DqonK8IaNVSUWvvwrM3-Rn-YDar9AQlvZIDWzdk9fzW6qeKJZ0wrcyQfg8bDs9JFNdB9QqSEwuaJpnqndphXXF0484yDwBlHmeiQ5MULFgjvbXGe15m_E427Jg/s400/Chris+Beach+house+Aug+%2708_0071.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242348399288350098" />
Shhh! Don't tell Cody, but while at the beach Noah found a new friend Tex. I'll have to be honest, I was not sure how Tex would be around Noah but he immediately won my heart. It was love at first sight. Noah just adored him and would follow him everywhere. Which was not to hard, as he seemed to enjoy sleeping most of the day.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik5VDLK5CJ3NJgp4PLObmZ2SsQ4oxRdSfiOCRLObWNJQW39fYtRowmTpaTHsScFzCZtRBGq62BWpokm9-WjCY_lq7R3aALDpdItxNO9pu-aecT7QPSoEMoJHqmbJs_GjYc_pDIDVGXaQ/s400/Chris+Beach+house+Aug+%2708_0038.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242347764866852130" />
Oh Tex where are you?
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXcj_G8wlYQm1DTccteCN8zrEOntF_42XgYNNRHHIKkZ2x0x5Nlns5BlLCMssiIdKn36Xm1i_XvrbhKQm4JmvTMHMuOFoHEjPbJmKA8lfQG97-ZyLIUVKV3DTtV1EoyHa3Mhat0-2usA/s400/Chris+Beach+house+Aug+%2708_0045.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242347447658452530" />
I'm gonna get you....
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB3qKTwwyTvv7RxQ3swpJQv9yvvuvHNND7TrfZd1wR35qVVXYKZERHPVwv8Q8QhifQJRL-zMxtYylKygkBBmqskhnecJ61DbpTYEy9FqtIPm1Hkb7LNN2JjovMFbkX1ncJBT9FusdGpw/s400/Chris+Beach+house+Aug+%2708_0042.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242347266097717970" />
Tex wait for me.....I'm coming!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCWRlRpzLcOBgYVEFROXne4SaX1HwgI2_zNc9L6eaYLYlgq9TuSw-J4gPbouCd5W-AuFKFO_DFLo3C5dZXILj3JUHZ_oHVUD8LCKmhDsO7UdVsBALfNK4AD4sBcprC-emzVduj8ehbsw/s400/Chris+Beach+house+Aug+%2708_0047.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242346872906292770" />
Noah is still working on his standing and as has even surprised us by taking a few steps with lots of encouragement. I think he may have caught onto my eagerness for him to start walking, because lately he has been Mr. Jelly legs. He continues to find ways to remind me, that things will get accomplished on his schedule not mine.

Now lets talk about teeth. Yup, he sprouted another tooth. Top right and is working on cutting a molar. So officially the tooth count is up to 3 1/2. Still working on the GI & eating issues and hope to find some answers soon.

On a very sad note, friends of mine lost their 3 yr old daughter Arden, to cancer after a 10 month battle with stage IV, high risk Nueroblastoma. Arden will always have a special place in my heart. Her family will continue to be in my prayers. May they find comfort during this very difficult time. I can't believe it's almost over. We have managed to keep ourselves busy with weekend trips and trying to stay healthy. Noah's health is much better this Summer than last for which I am very grateful for.

Last weekend, was spent at Aunt Ru & Uncle Greg's beach place. Noah loved watching the boats go by and especially enjoyed their heated pool. Despite Noah coming down with a poop virus and stinking up the whole place, we had a nice time. Poor little guy still has the darn poop virus :(

Noah is really starting to become more confident with taking assisted steps. He usually likes to walk while holding two hands, but lately he has been taking several steps with just one! He has mastered the walker and enjoys crashing into walls, furniture and running over toes & paws.

The biggest news to date is ......he is starting to stand all by himself! This weekend he turned the big corner and was pushing away to stand alone all the time. The pictures will tell you how proud he has been. He is even trying to push to a stand from the bear crawl.

Look everyone I think I'm standing all by myself!!!

Is everyone still looking because I'm still standing....

I can take steps with Aunt Ru and wave at the same time

Aunt Ru & Uncle Greg helping me take steps.

Thank you Aunt Ru & Uncle Greg , I had a great time at your beach place.

He has also mastered how to push buttons, especially the ones on the remote and phone. I haven't been able to snag a picture yet....but he loves to point the remote to the TV and push the buttons. He likes to stand next to the TV and push the buttons as well. My DH just loves that during a nail biting sports event! It just melts my heart how he is starting to learn more and more everyday.
He also is learning signs like crazy, he has added hurt, horse, pig & sheep to his list. I'm trying to teach him please and sorry as he is enjoying his "terrible twos" along with all this new learning.

This weekend we are off to the beach again, this time to spend time with my Mom. Since starting Noah on daily flovent treatments, he has turned into a energetic and playful child. My DH says it is like putting water on a flower, and now we are watching him blossom.

We were not in the Pulmonolgists office 20 minutes before the Dr. stated clearly that Noah has asthma. Within one week of using the inhaler, Noah started sleeping through the night. He still enjoys getting up around 4:30- 5am, but no interruptions before than. His continuous wet cough all day long, has been reduced to a scattering thoughout the day. Mainly after eating, drinking , waking up and when outside.

He is becoming more mobile now as well. It was a 9 hour drive to NC and I spent about 7 hours in the back seat with Noah. We stopped to stretched our legs every 2 hours so the drive wasn't too bad. Seeing Sophia was worth the entire drive. As eating continues to be an issue for Noah. His main source of nutrition is still pediasure. For a while he was refusing all foods, but has recently turned the corner and now only eats(with some refusal) yogurt and stage 2 oatmeal! He won't eat any table foods or anything with texture. I have a cabinet full of stage 2 veggies & fruits , that a few months ago he would eat without hesitation but now complete refusal. I have even tried pureeing foods, but no luck! But....don't let me forget to mention, Noah can spot an ice cream within a 100 mile radius and will gladly consume it! He will even self feed ice cream sandwichs. Everything else put in front of him gets tossed and gobbled up by the dog.

We are still working on control his aspiration/reflux. We are trying a medicine to see if we can reduce aspiration from below and better control the reflux. There are still talks about the Nissen surgery, but we are keeping our fingers crossed his new medicine will work. Thickened liquids have drastically improved his apirating.

We are extremely pleased with Noah's signing. He now knows and sign appropriately 15 signs (more, eat, drink, ball, bath, hat, dog, cat, book, hi/bye, swing , up, shoes & milk). Sometimes when all the stars line up and it's a full moon out, he may even sign Mama!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Summer. OK, we really didn't open the pool..we actually used a hand pump and hose. Noah couldn't wait to jump in and despite the water temperature he insisted on taking a dip.
I also posted a few pictures from last weekend when we visited Aunt Ru Ru and Uncle Greg's for a Bar-B-Que.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim1cNfzF-DjiaCpE9oKhrUoUFaJM6MC_VLA817bF9rpKJuXfgJ573KQDoRINdXXmTdf5exqiGEHn6KH067R-FSPSP6HZa79N93hpg2zXLVMeJLD00WWnwK6sOi9Jh3kvc-sudF0t27Bw/s400/Noah.pool.4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214872509459110498" />
Daddy get off the phone so you can go swimming with me!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGKxD_Dq20kSX3mGas1WylFwzf8t1Y72Ehl5fPEHDnJtDMQSFhSrYuhYBQzWubV_g5ubOJlgq2nEF_Abzsx90yHShy5iVv1PN1LnSs14BTCjBPWLG9ZF_cOXyH8uBc3kyvVXL0R6igEw/s400/Noah.pool.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214872049058519458" />
Yea, I finally got my own pool...thanks Mama!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZO8bPJ99Kn5xe72N1IgeN7M91PRaQxd2NMpeDchHdJ6AA07-oLZQX3NCMsdSJbbjX4gYVcjTQZR-gUPIjNI1k1x3iCDVDPuqStq4JZYju7tcLBriPgIcI5zGftvS7fcUxBJ4qM1Jzjg/s400/Noah.pool.9.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214871751599441090" />
I need a haircut real bad!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHVAsw8uv-gFtr1LhHqdFllYqy3gP0KAD5RrrIBmViEKt8b6MC8jup1Ce_k-7_9wCuKbyD99eOKJa-VR5ZbuyyeYbgOlzCRriLAWnSGIeFfCNrGfpslUPRSJ-vFRth-4A5rLG6wlO8ng/s400/Watcha+Want.2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214871430599218130" />
Who wants a cold one?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7vCs2fG0kpivPHpjae67SgyIMHI5t2M-7j_otAQ6xMG8TxSLV1-PwT_xq_vcRojtbA4hPtTnjeKXW46JO5L6lqXxbwbhGGr8oXPIBeKsLRyn0yv-WLViotQnWU8OMG5Dl14W_y_qF0w/s400/cowboy+hat.2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214871023773109218" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSeKQWAco1drMDrgpubD5fz-b5fNopcGcBbRXD5hsbxiyk2oclaEk4t6cId0Emhge8uevEkeyElC2yhRxd4lTCDuFTIDdEifJ_T-zilqGOLdqHPG_XPoHkVxGFmpwbgxiXSe6p-o020Q/s400/cowboy+hat.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214870853291831890" />
Hey! He will be 20 months old on Tuesday and I still can't believe how quickly time has passed us by. When he is healthy ( which seems rare these last few months) he has really been on the go. He loves to crawl everywhere, cruise along the furniture, climb up & down the stairs without any fear! A big change from just 6 months ago.

His new "trick" is to crawl really fast into the bathroom and pull up to the toilet....and yes splash in the water! EEEEWeee! You can bet, our toilets have never been cleaner! Oh yea, I forgot to mention after he is done drowning his hands in the toilet water, he grabs the TP and pulls it all they way out of the bathroom. You gotta love this kid's adventure!

I wish I can say his mouth is full of teeth, but can only report what is true ....only two bottom teeth that popped through in March! Still working on eating, which has regressed since being sick. We have made progress with transitioning from bottle to straw cup. He is doing great with the straw cup! I'm so proud of him. I still haven't had the heart to take away his morning bottle (mainly because that is when he will consume the most pediasure without a fight and secondly because he still loves his bottle).

He is also doing well with walking behind his pushcart. His PT thinks SureSteps will help him even more so he will be fitted for a pair in the next week or so. He is not yet standing by himself but I don't think we are too far away. He is starting to test his boundaries, by pushing away from the couch for a second or so. It's so cute how excited he gets.

When he first wakes, one of the first thing he does ( after his bottle of course) is point and say " wa daat? "to everything. I say , my nose, my ear, my eyes, my hair , my mouth , my pillow, my arm and so on. This can go on for 15-20 minutes and at 5am , it feels like an eternity. But so adorable.

Well I hope I covered all the highlights for now. I'll be sure to add anything I missed on my next post. I posted some random pictures below. It's been busy at the home front and time is just passing by. I commend all my blogger friends for being so dedicated with keeping their blogs updated. I do enjoy peeking in on a regular basis for updates and for that reason, I will just hang my head in shame as I just haven't been committed these last few weeks. Hopefully this entry will get me out of my funk and I'll be back on track.

Noah seems to have turned the corner on his health. It appears he may have been having a reaction to the prevacid. On the prevacid he had a bad rash on his legs, arms, stomach and around his mouth . Along with vomiting & diarrhea. His new GI Dr. ( who I like very much) said he it may be an odd reaction and he switched him to prilosec. He seems to be doing better. He is more energetic than he has been in months and actually sleeping much better at night. I suppose I would sleep a little better too, if I would be brave enough to turn the monitor down about 100 decibels. My poor DH, never once has he complained about the "static monster" humming all through the night. He understands it just gives me a peace of mind and for that I thank him dearly.

Noah took his 2nd plane ride. This time to NC to throw my sister her baby shower. It was a short flight, just 1 hour and he did awesome. He loved looking out the window and pulling the shade up and down. Thanks goodness the passenger in front of us enjoyed Noah's games!

It was a short trip to NC, arrived on Friday and left Sunday morning. We packed in a lot with both my sisters and Mom. Noah absolutely fell in love with my sister's cat Kallie and his PT would have been proud of him. He crawled and crawled after Kallie. I wish I had a video of him chasing her around the suitcase and up the stairs. The pictures do not do it any justices. But who can resist picture of our big boy.

Some milestone updates, Noah is starting to cruise. Abby was absolutely adorable. She gave Noah hugs & kisses and didn't even cry when I approached her. She also showed Noah how to become an escape artist for when he starts walking . She also showed us how talented a dancer she is by dancing to "Ring around the Rosy" with her Mommy.

Of course Noah was being his usual sneaky self by being real sweet just long enough to get in position to grab attack hair. (Sorry Megan). Just look at him....checking out Abby's cute little bows......

This is my favorite picture of Abby, ain't she a cutie pie?

Thank you Megan for setting up our play date. On his 17th month birthday ( St. Pat's Day) he cut his very first tooth, despite being sick and in the hospital. I can't tell you how happy I was ! This is how he felt before cutting his tooth.

We are getting adjusted to Noah's new feed routine. He is starting to handle his thickened bottles better (he is only throwing his bottle a few times instead every second). As for foods, well we are working on increasing his caloric intake by feeding 3 bottles of soy pediasure/day and adding duocal to each feed. His appetite is still fair but improving. He still will only eat oatmeal, Stage 2 fruits and of course ice cream.

We hope and pray the thicken liquids and medicine will help eliminate his aspiration/reflux and any discomforts. I do still worry as he continues to throw up long after his feed. I continue to keep my fingers crossed that in time these changes will work.

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers while Noah was in the hospital. The entire staff on 7 W provided such great care and support during his stay. I'm grateful to have met Dr. Z and can not thank her enough for the genuine concern, kindness, care and time she spent with Noah and me. What an amazing physician and such a caring person. She is certainly a blessing in our family's lives. She is also someone I consider my friend.

Speaking of friends, Noah certainly had no problems making lots of friends despite being quarantined. He would just stand in his cage ( oh I meant crib) and wave to everyone that passed by or stop in. When we did escape from his room, he was required to wear a mask. We had lots of fun keeping it on him and he made lots of people laugh trying to take it off.

Also if you could spare a few extra minutes and stop by a few of Noah's friends blogs as they could use a few extra prayers right now. Rhett who is recovering from surgery, Parker who has an upcoming surgery and Chelsea who is finishing up her 5th round of Chemo. Mr. Virus invaded our computer and we have been cautious.

Our trip to Florida was real nice. Noah did great on the plane. He was honored with a 1st class seat w/me on the return. I was lucky enough to be bumped with my status. Yep, even after 19 months of not traveling every week I still have preferred status. Unfortunately my DH and MIL were still confined to the back of the "bus". I guess the only glitch was when Noah decided to throw his bottle and bonked the lady sleeping behind us in the head. Thankfully, she and everyone else thought it was funny. How can you possible be mad a such a cute kid?

The weather was nice and warm for the most part. Most days were windy and we had two days in the low 50's which made for brisk walks. It was just nice to be able to get outside everyday and walk along the beach. The sunsets on the west coast of Florida (edited for geographical accuracy) are just magnificent.

We took Noah to a really cool jungle garden in Sarasota. It was filled with tropical plants, trees and had lots of different animals . I'm not sure which were Noah's favorites (he sorta zonked out when we got there), but mine were the Flamingos and 100+ yr old turtles. Of course when we were ready to leave, Noah was all set to rock n roll.

He did enjoy having breakfast at JD's were Mr. Pirate watched over the place.

For some reason he just didn't want to be in his car seat at all! My DH says it's because he didn't like to ride in a minivan. Great, I've been trying to convince him that a minivan is what I would like (thus the reason I rented one in FL) and now Noah is siding with him. Boys!

Now home and back to reality with appointments, therapists , work and piles of laundry. I did finally get an appointment with Noah's allergist and his test came back negative for a milk allergy. Good news on that front but we still are trying to get answers for all his congesting & gagging stuff. Plan is to keep him off dairy until he has his swallow study. His GI specialist is trying to get the study moved up, as Noah continues to lose weight. He lost over a pound in just a month. My DH & I thought we were giving him a complex by calling him our peanut so we decided to try a few new names like "big boy" , "stretch", "too tall" to try to turn things around.

I need to share a funny, as I try to keep my blog on the lighter side. The other night I was putting Noah's PJ's on after his bath. He was being extra squirmy and pointy. He was saying ah ah ah , which he does a lot and I continued to converse with him. Then he started to crunch his cute little fingers together and point again. I asked him what? He continued to crunch his fingers together and then screamed out ba! ba! I had forgotten I put an extra bottle on the nightstand. I was so proud of him, for signing milk and saying ba ba! And I thought he was just being cute and waving to me!

Cheers, Terry

mom2noahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17283497476779936870noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2104631653643837254.post-77921335793214836922008-02-18T13:30:00.006-05:002008-02-18T14:57:26.554-05:00Gone to the Beach!Well almost! Just a few more days and we are off to Florida. It will be our first plane ride with lil bugger. Hopefully he is a good baby, just like all the other babies I flew next to over the last 15 years. My DH and I went back and forth on whether or not to bite the bullet and purchase him a seat. We decided not to and now I have "cheapsake" remorse. Stay tune for the how we made out on a plane crammed full both ways. What the heck were we thinking?

Lil bugger has a double ear infection and a nasty cough. If that doesn't keep him and me up half the night .....teething does. Where are those dang teeth anyway? The other morning, my DH gives me gentle hug and tells me (with hopes of making me feeling better after another relatively sleepless night), " Just think in a few more days we will be on vacation isn't that great?" For a brief moment I drift off and dream....it will be great. Lil bugger will take 3 hour naps and sleep through the night and wake up at 9 Am every day. The little Sunshine state fairy will float in to change, feed and entertain him while I bask in the sun and read my book all day long. Won't she?

Seriously, I have been looking forward to our trip. It will be nice to have time off from work as well as not having to worry about all lil bugger's appointments, specialists & therapists for a week.

Sorry for no pictures this go around. My darn camera mysteriously broke. I turned it on the other day and all I can see on the screen is a "what appears to be a man's " thumb print impression. Hmmmm..... promise to post lots of snaps of our trip.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in need of them. Cheers - Terrymom2noahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17283497476779936870noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2104631653643837254.post-64355212823809007502008-02-09T09:00:00.000-05:002008-02-10T20:26:33.240-05:00Got Soy?

Is it just me, or does it really take an Act of God to land an appointment with a specialist? Our bugger has been having difficulties with his bottle, gagging/coughing the entire bottle. It started to worsen around the time we were transitioning from formula to milk. So we went back and forth with formula & milk but it hasn't improved. It wasn't until he got a stomach virus and started pediasure that we notice an improvement. Could he be allergic to milk? Pediasure has milk protein but is lactose free.....Hmmmm?

So back to what has been driving me absolutely bonkers..... Appointments! I've been trying to get an appointments with a GI & Allergist. Lil bugger needs a swallow study done , as it's believed he may be aspirating into his lungs. Yikes! So why is it so difficult? I have multiple names of specialists but have yet scored an appointment. Same excuse with every specialist. No appointments at this time. OK, so when is the next appointment? Who knows, I need to call back on the first, second, or fourth week of the month depending on the specialist and when their schedule opens. It is only that time will I find out if there is an appointment available for the following month. This could go on and on and on for months. Whatever happen to I'll take the first available appointment, it seems nonexistent. Now, it's like a mad dash to be the first one to call. Sort of like waiting in line for concert tickets, first come first scheduled. UGH!

So as we wait for the "impossible" appointment, we are experimenting on our own. We've started lil bugger on Soy milk and have eliminated all dairy. It seems to be working, but I'm not a specialist so what do I know? He still doesn't seem right, still fussy but at least he is not choking down his bottle. To boot, he is still having explosions. Double UGH!

Alrighty, I think I've griped enough, lets move on to some fun stuff. A few entries ago (see Mom I do post) I posted a picture of lil bugger when he was 3m old. I wanted to show everyone how darn cute he still looks in jeans at 15 m.

On Saturday, I took lil bugger to a music class sponsored by our local DS group. Last year, he slept through the whole session. This year, with the exception of a bottle break, he had a blast. He banged, rattled, clapped and kicked his feet the whole time. It was great to see him have so much fun with the other children. Here are a few of my favorites snaps:

As for new milestones, his signing is starting to grow. He can sign "more", "bath","thank -you & blow kisses -same sign. I'm pretty sure his next signs will be "hat" & "no" as he doesn't like wearing one. He is getting much faster crawling and can climb 4 steps independently. He also loves to open & close drawers and doors. His total tooth count ......still ZERO!

Well, I think I covered most everything rattling around in my head. We are heading into the icebox as far as the weather goes here....brrrrr. Looking forward to our trip to Florida later this month.
